Salvation Testimonies

Matthew’s Testimony

I began to hear the Gospel as a young child when my parents got saved and started attending an Independent Baptist church. I made a profession of faith when I was four years old; however, I struggled with doubt about my salvation throughout my childhood. I even made several more professions of faith, but I never knew for certain that I was saved. After a while, I decided that my doubt was not worth worrying about, and I put the matter of salvation in the back of my mind.

One Sunday when I was fifteen years old, I felt God calling me into full-time ministry as I was listening to a missionary preach in my church. I did not want to be a preacher, so I ignored the call of God for about a year. I finally surrendered to full-time ministry when I was sixteen years old just before going to summer camp. My wife, Rebecca also attended that summer camp with me. We both made some important decisions for God that week, and God began to knit our hearts together.

I trained for the ministry at Ambassador Baptist College. During my time there, God once again began working on my heart about my need to be saved, but I ignored Him. After graduating college, Rebecca and I were married and began faithfully serving as laymen in our local church for one year.

In 2011, God opened the door for me to serve at Grace Baptist Church in Hinesville, GA as Youth Director. After three years as Youth Director, God finally broke through my heart during the Sunday morning service on June 22, 2014. The Holy Spirit’s conviction was heavy on me, and when the invitation began, I walked out with Rebecca and told her that I needed to be saved! She was surprised, but very concerned for me. I talked with my pastor that afternoon and trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour in his office! I followed the Lord in believer’s baptism that night! I have never doubted my salvation since!

Rebecca’s Testimony

One evening when I was six years old, I realized that I needed to be saved. Kneeling in the living room with my dad, I prayed to accept Jesus as my Saviour. Several years later, at the age of 11, I was attending a revival at my church when the Lord convicted me of my need to be baptized. I followed the Lord in baptism the following Sunday.

During my teen years, I became increasingly aware that I was not living for God on purpose as I should. When I was 16, He finally broke through my heart, and I surrendered my life to His service. After high school, God gave me the opportunity to work on missions trips to Mexico with Bearing Precious Seed in El Paso, Texas. God used this experience to ingrain a love for missions in my heart.
